How to reach Rome from Civitavecchia?

Is it convinient to use trains to reach Rome from Civitavecchia?

According with your schedule and interest  the driving between Rome and Civitavecchia could give you the opportunity of a relaxing sightseeing or even the chance for a tour of the wonderful Rome surroundings.




If you are cruising your boat will moor, for security reasons,

in a restricted area.


From there, depart frequent free shuttle that will bring you at “Michelangelo Castle”, located in a no-restricted area near the southern exit of the port.


There, you can meet your friends, relatives or anybody else coming to pick you up.


To reach Rome, a  train ride to could be a less expensive option and, if travelling light, absolutely affordable.


The ride itself take about an hour. In this case, you maybe need some more informations.


To reach the train station, simply exit the southern port entrance and then cross the street w the crosswalk (pictured below).





Continue along this street (parallel to the coastline) for approximately 4 blocks until you hit the train station. It takes probably 10-15 minutes walking.



Ticket counter is at train Station. You can also buy your tickets at the bars and newspaper kiosks in or around the train station.


The best ticket to buy is the B.I.R.G.


Make sure you get a 3 zone B.I.R.G as it will allow you to have unlimited access, within the zone, to regional trains, underground and buses in Rome, for 24 hours.



Don't forget to write your name on the ticket and validate it in the little yellow machines in the train terminal.

 

Be aware that the train from Civitavecchia may arrive in Termini at a slightly detached section of track track (from 27 to 30). From there you need about 10 min walking to reach the main tracks section.
